Hokkaido by train

Nine days, one rail pass, and the discovery that the vending machines are warm.

The train from Sapporo to Asahikawa is ninety minutes of the same field repeating itself under different amounts of snow, and I would do it again tomorrow.

The pass maths#

Three long legs and the pass has paid for itself. Fewer than that and you are better off buying singles, which nobody tells you because the pass is easier to sell.

What I would change#

Two nights in Furano instead of one. The snow is the point and one night means you see it in transit rather than in place.

↑ was it any good?

↑ pass it on
