Everyone says autumn in Kyoto. I assumed that was the kind of thing people repeat because someone else said it first, and I wanted to check.
now — what it was like
It was true, and not for the reason I expected. The colour is fine. What actually got me was three straight days of rain, which emptied the temples and turned the gravel dark.
Go in autumn. Hope for weather.
